Right, but Jimmy kind of twisted that logic, didn't he? He almost pulled the nose up into a full aerodynamic stall at low altitude and then tried to argue, well, hey, that near disaster was great training because it was so intense!

Near disaster as good pedagogy. Yes, classic student logic. But Bob had to shut that down instantly because acute terror does not create good learning. Extreme fear triggers a fight or flight response that completely overwhelms working memory.

Yeah, you freeze up. Your brain literally stops processing new information. So the goal for an instructor isn't to scare the life out of someone, it is to engineer controlled intensity. Like, you take the aircraft up to 3,500 feet, safe altitude, and you induce a real stall buffet so the student feels that physical shudder in the control wheel and hears the warning horn, but their brain stays clear enough to analyze it.

Precisely. You want moderate stress, not panic. Bob talked about a time during a low altitude go around where things were slipping and he had to yell MY CONTROLS at the top of his lungs. And he realized afterward that shouting in that exact second actually backfired.

He took control and kept them safe, sure, but the sheer spike of negative adrenaline in that moment meant Jimmy didn't remember why the rudder coordination failed. The panic seared the fear into his brain, but completely wiped out the actual physical lesson about rudder input.
